SkinPen

What is SkinPen?

SkinPen Microneedling helps improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scars on the face and body by taking advantage of the skin’s natural healing response to injury.

Procedures take about 30 minutes, depending on the area treated and the desired results. SkinPen stimulates your body’s natural skin/wound healing process. Four SkinPen sessions spaced one month apart have been proven to quadruple collagen and elastin levels in treated skin tightness.

FAQs

Yes, by design, SkinPen’s single-use sterile needle cartridge is built so the needle head physically retracts to prevent it from ever being used again. Additionally, SkinPen is surrounded by a proprietary BioSheath that acts as a barrier to prevent cross-contamination between procedures. Safety measures like these are part of the reason SkinPen is the first Microneedling device cleared by the FDA. It is cleared for treatment for ages 22 and up.

Microneedling is CONTRAINDICATED in persons with scleroderma, collagen vascular disease, cardiac abnormalities, hemorrhagic disorder, hemostatic dysfunction, active bacterial or fungal infections, persons prone to KELOID SCARRING, and/or people who are CURRENTLY TAKING ACCUTANE, a  pharmaceutical treatment for acne. If one of these applies to you, DON’T SCHEDULE.

A numbing cream will be applied to your skin before the SkinPen procedure. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes for the topical anesthetic to reach its full numbing effect. You will experience minimal discomfort since the fine needles only penetrate at maximum 3 mm into your skin. You may have a feeling like sandpaper on the skin which is very tolerable.

After a SkinPen procedure, you will be able to return home with minimal disruption to your schedule, and there is virtually no downtime. Your skin will look red, with a “sun-burn” look; but, by the next day, your skin will look more like it did before the treatment, with just a mild flush look. You may have some visible needle marks along the forehead and jawline which you can expect to resolve within 72 hours.

  • No vigorous exercising for a few days, sensitive skin should not be exposed to perspiration for 72 hours.
  • Avoid make up and concealers for at least 72 hours
Microneedling boosts the presence of collagen and elastin in your skin, giving you great results quickly. However, as you continue to age, the collagen and elastin will continue break down. You will still be able to enjoy long-lasting results but, at some future point in time, a follow-up treatment will be necessary. Since each patient is unique, the length of results will vary from individual to individual.
A single, basic treatment during the first quarter of 2022 will cost $360 for each treatment. If you add Platelet-Rich-Plasma, or other additives, the treatment will cost more.
